Prayer Update – July 31, 2026

Teen Camp Finished

Hey Everyone,

We had such a great time with the Teens this week and we are sad to see them go tonight! These teenagers had so much fun together in all the activities we had planned for them. It was so fun to watch them get into every activity, encouraging others to join in and really make it enjoyable for each other. One of our memorable nights was Wednesday's Stoney's Talent show. Each cabin came up with a talent to present, which some cabins sang songs, wrote an original song, performed some skits and told funny jokes. As a leadership staff member, as well as some of our volunteers this week, we watched from the back of the chapel as each act was cheered on by the teen campers. When our winner was announced the entire group cheered so loud for them, it was amazing! These teens had so much fun this week in the activities as well as making new lasting friendships.

The Holy Spirit was working this week as we had Phil Houston. During our Morning Chapels he led them through a passage and they got to practice studying the word themselves. They discussed it as a group and had some great conversations. Pray for these teens as they go home. A lot of these teens have been walking in faith with Jesus for a few years, pray that they would continue to be in His word as they go home and their roots of faith would grow deeper. Some of the campers have heard the Gospel for a few years, but have not walked with the Lord faithfully, pray for them as they go home that they would yearn to follow Jesus in everything they do. Pray for those campers who heard the Gospel for the first time, that they would one day put their trust in Jesus. And pray for the campers who put their trust in Jesus this week, that they would be connected with other believers at home and grow in their new faith.

This Weekend: Family Camp

As the teen campers leave tonight, we start our Family Camp Weekend! We have 20 families coming this weekend to enjoy and relax as a family. Family camp schedule is intentionally relaxed, where families can enjoy the beach and other activities, while also just enjoying conversations with others. We hold chapel twice during the day and have pontoon boat rides in the afternoon.

Our speaker for Family camp is Matt Willems from Spalding, SK. Jeremy is the pastor at Spalding Crossroads Bible Church. Him and his wife have two children and we are excited to have them join us for the weekend. Pray for Matt has he speaks to us in chapel. Pray that we would be refreshed by God's word and learn more about Him. We are so thankful for some of our staff to stay on the weekend as well as some volunteers to help with the kids during chapel. Some of the younger children will have their own fun chapel time, so the parents can enjoy the speaker.

Our volunteers are: Arlene Schmidt, Dan Moulton - Kitchen, Ella McLean, Dyorah Panko, Bryn Jenkins, Carson Yaskow, Mikaela Albertyn - volunteers.

Next Week: Squirt Camp

After Family Camp, we start Squirt camp on Tuesday, Aug 4. We have 47 little squirt campers between the ages of 7-9. These little guys are so full of energy and fun! Our schedule changes a lot with this week. The campers usually pick their skills, but during Squirt camp we take them through a rotation of most of our skills: crafts, pontoon ride, low elements/gaga ball, sports, climbing wall, petting barn, beach, archery, bouncy castles, kayaking and the Stoney train. The campers also go to bed a lot earlier as well, which is helpful when they are so small!

Our speaker is Myra Schmidt. Myra works for Nipawin Bible College in their office and we are so excited to welcome her at Stoney this week. Pray for Myra as she shares the Gospel in our chapel times. Pray that the message would be clear and the campers would hear that Jesus loves them so dearly.

Our volunteers are: Patti Pomeldi, Christine Ruten, Elizabeth Meszaros and Kirsten Schmidt - cooks; Pam West-Sharp - Nurse; Ruth + Lavern Cressman - camp grandparents; Millie Hart, McKenna Bueckert and Jenna Giddings - volunteers

Our LIT's this week: Jessilyn Sandelin, Hannah Opeseth, Mikaela Albertyn, Sophia Pennington, Asha Barber, Petyon Larson

Prayer Requests

Camp is a very busy place, and all our staff are working together as a community to serve God in sharing the Gospel to our campers. We can't do this on our own, we need God's help and guidance to achieve this great task He entrusted us with. Would you help us in praying for our staff, campers, and volunteers? Here are some prayer requests and praise items you can pray for:

Pray that she will get the rest she needs when she needs it, and that she will grow in her faith this summer. Pray for Jason & Pam Kellington our Senior Staff Supervisors. Pray for them as they lead the staff in discipleship over the summer.
  • Pray for our campers. Pray that there would be no accidents, or sickness happen. Pray that they would come to know their Savior here at Stoney.
