Prayer Update – July 26, 2022

Junior Two has Finished

Hi Everyone,

We finished our third week of camp on Friday with Junior Two.  It was a great week with the campers and it was a hot week! The campers got to really enjoy the lake and all the fun activities with how hot it was, but it also made them pretty tired by the end of the day! We did have campers who were very homesick during the week, but we did not send any kids home! We were able to encourage each one of them to stay, with the help from our camp Grandparents and the kitten therapy! Geoff spoke about the armour of God and how important it is to put on each piece, helping the campers to understand each piece of the armour and how to practically apply them to their everyday life. The campers responded to God's invitation of salvation and there were 25 commitments and 26 re commitments made this week! Please lift up these new Christians in prayer, that they would continue to grow in their faith and that they can find people to help them in their new walk with Jesus!

This Week: Teen Camp

We made a change to our camp schedule line-up this summer, and we are running Teen camp this week! We have 53 campers from the ages of 14-17 here this week. Teen camp schedule is very different from most of our camps. We let the campers sleep in a bit longer, we only run two skills each day, and we play fun games and other activities during the week. Later on this week, we will hold a banquet where everyone gets dressed up and we decorate the dining hall for a nice banquet meal! We still have our regular chapel times, but we will have a special praise and worship night later as well. Please pray for these young teens, some have made commitments to follow Jesus, but lots have not. Pray that the Holy Spirit would stir in their hearts, both to either walk faithfully with Jesus or to meet Him for the first time.

Our speaker this week is Sean Brandow from Humboldt, SK. Sean is the pastor of Humboldt Bible Church and the chaplain for the Humboldt Broncos hockey team. Sean and his wife Marsha have four boys, and we are so thrilled to have Marsha and three of the boys with us this week. Sean is leading the teens through the book of Daniel this week and what we can learn from the book about ourselves and God. Pray that the campers would hear God's message for them through Sean.

We have several of our past years staff members out this week to help volunteer. Our volunteers this week are: Ellie Syrenne and Heather Friedt in the kitchen;  Art & Jackie Thiessen - grandparents;  Jenna Giddings - nurse;  Em Curie, McKenna Kuperis, Joelle & Julius & Denae Ebach as general volunteers helping with the program.

65th ANNIVERSARY

We are celebrating 65 years this summer! We are planning to hold a celebration on Sunday, July 31 starting at 2:00 pm. We will have a program in the afternoon at 3:30 pm with a worship time and presentations, and a BBQ supper at 5:30 pm. The beach will be open, pontoon rides, and other fun activities.

Prayer Requests

Camp is a very busy place, and all our staff are working together as a community to serve God in sharing the Gospel to our campers. We can't do this on our own, we need God's help and guidance to achieve this great task He entrusted us with. Would you help us in praying for our staff, campers, and volunteers? Here are some prayer requests and praise items you can pray for:

  • We are thankful for the many registrations that are coming in, we are over 800 campers so far for the summer!
  • Pray for our cabin leaders and LIT's. Pray for their health and safety throughout the summer. Pray that God would give them the wisdom and patience for their campers many questions, knowledge to answer those questions, and the love to show to these campers.
  • Pray for our summer leadership team. Pray for Claire, our program director. Pray for her health and safety. Pray that she will get the rest she needs when she needs it, and that she will grow in her faith this summer.
  • Pray for our campers. Pray that there would be no accidents, or sickness happen. Pray that they would come to know their Savior here at Stoney.
  • Pray for Jay & Jen as they lead the team this summer.
  • Pray for Tracy & Paddy Reed, as this is their first summer with us at Stoney. Tracy is our Facility Manager and Paddy is the Kitchen Coordinator.
  • Pray for Jesse Alsbach as our Associate Director, Millie Hart as our LIT Director, and Jason & Pam Kellington as our Senior Staff Supervisors.
  • Pray for continued financial and prayer support for the camp.  Praise God for the many people who do support Stoney in this way.

Thanks so much for your prayers.  We value your continued support of the ministry of Stoney Lake Bible Camp!
