Prayer Update – July 19, 2019

Junior Hi One Recap

Hi Everyone,

What an amazing week! The campers were full of energy, and ready for anything! The weather was looking like rain all week, but God is so Good He kept the rain to a minimum and only in the evenings. He protected us last night as a severe thunderstorm swept through. The campers got to enjoy different fun activities than our Junior campers. We played dodge ball in the Chapel, had chapel by the campfire, and on Friday we had a beach party and a giant slip 'n' slide in the field. We only had one kid who struggled with homesickness, but she stuck it out and had a great time! Thank you so much for praying for this week of camp.

Jason Hodge did an amazing job speaking in chapel and sharing the Gospel.  He spoke about finding your Identity in Christ, and how we can conquer anything that may come our way when we know who we are in Christ and what He has done for us on the cross. Many of our campers this week have been coming to camp for a few years, and it was great to help equip them with what they need to continue their faith when they go home. God worked in the hearts of the campers and many put their trust in Him for the first time.

Junior Two Begins

We start Junior Two on Sunday, July 21. We have 120 campers ages 8-11 registered for camp.  The schedule will look the same as our previous Junior camp.

Our support staff for the week are:

LITs: Jill Thompson, Jorja Liddle, Nicole Mitchell, Morgan Atamanchuk, Taryn Smith, Brady Behiel, Jack Boyd, Aiden Hergott, Sam Kuperis, Nate Healey, Addison Leicht

Cooks: Val Moulton, Barry & Shirley Craig, Welma Breiter, Billie-Jean Thompson

Nurse: Amy Bertram

Maintenance & Custodial: Russ & Marty Harris

Grandparents: Dan and Karen Rung

Our speaker this week is Jaime Schreiner.  This is Jaime's 4th summer speaking at Stoney. She is from Tisdale, SK where she lives with her husband and two daughters. Jaime is a writer and has several published stories and writes articles for different Christian magazines. She loves God and connects well with the campers. Pray for wisdom and confidence in speaking God's truth to the campers.

Prayer Requests

There are several general but HUGE prayer requests that we have for the whole summer:

  • Praise for the campers who made first time commitments! Pray for them that they would have opportunity to learn how to grow as they go home.
  • Pray that the Holy Spirit would reign freely in our camp and in the lives of our campers. That God's truth will be spoken clearly and would fall on open ears and hearts.
  • Health and safety of the campers and staff. We have a few cabin leaders that are suffering from colds. Pray for healing.
  • We still have room for more campers, especially in our Teen Camp.  Pray that God would fill the camp and we would have more opportunities to share the Gospel.
  • Pray that God would work in the staff's lives as they work with the campers, that they would rely on God for everything they need especially as the weeks go on and they get tired.

Thank you so much for your prayers! We appreciate your commitment to upholding Stoney in prayer!
