Squirt Camp is Finished
Hi Everyone,
Our Squirt camp is finished and we are into the first day of Junior Hi 2 today! Squirt camp is our shortest week and it goes by so fast! We had a wonderful three days with these little girls and boys, despite having the coldest week for weather. Squirt campers are excited to try everything and have this joy that overflows but they also get tired really quickly! Our cabin leaders were excellent in navigating all the different emotions and homesickness that came up this week. Our speaker was Glenda Lees and she shared the Gospel by talking about the different holidays or special events we celebrate in a calendar year. During the week, 39 campers committed their lives to Jesus and 6 campers made a re-commitment to following Jesus! Praise God for these little children and we ask that you pray for them as they go home, that they would be encouraged in their new walk with Jesus!
This Week: Junior Hi 2
Yesterday, we started Junior Hi 2! This is our second week with campers aged 12-14 and we have 125 campers here this week! The schedule is back to regular time with 3 skills in the afternoon. We play fun games during the evening and have a few nights with games or a campfire after chapel. We are so excited for this week with these campers and we ask for your prayers as the cabin leaders interact with them, showing God's love to them and answering any questions they may have about faith and Jesus.
Our speaker this week is Luke Bergmann from Tisdale, SK. Luke is the Associate Pastor at the Tisdale Alliance Church and he has spoke at camp in previous years. Him and his wife Rachelle are her with their two daughters Hailey and Riley, and we are excited to have them join us for the week! Please pray for Luke as he speaks to the campers about God's love for them and his gift of Salvation, pray that God would speak to their hearts through Luke.
Our volunteers this week are: Christine Ruten, Brianna Jenkins, and Arlene Schmidt are in the kitchen; Spencer & Karen Van Der Walt - camp grandparents; Karen Reed & Don Reed - nurse & maintenance; Em Currie & Myra Schmidt as general volunteers helping with the program and video.
Our LIT's this week are: Blayr Bernard, Joshua Schmidt, and Harris Kellington.
Corn Maze Days
CORN MAZE DAYS
We are planning to hold our Corn Maze Family Days this fall! These are the dates for this year:
- Sunday, August 28
- Saturday, September 10
- Sunday, September 18 (Depending on Weather)
We will have all the fun activities like: Climbing Wall, Face Painting, Bouncy Castles; Stoney Train Rides, Hay Bales to climb, hot dog roast, pontoon rides, tuck shop, and the corn maze!
Prices for the day are: Adults & Youth (12 and up) - $12; Children (6-11) - $8; 5 & under - Free
Prayer Requests
Camp is a very busy place, and all our staff are working together as a community to serve God in sharing the Gospel to our campers. We can't do this on our own, we need God's help and guidance to achieve this great task He entrusted us with. Would you help us in praying for our staff, campers, and volunteers? Here are some prayer requests and praise items you can pray for:
- We are thankful for the many registrations that are coming in, we are over 800 campers so far for the summer!
- We have only one week left for camp this summer! Pray for our staff, that they finish well at camp and as they head back into school whether it be university or bible school.
- Pray for our cabin leaders and LIT's. Pray for their health and safety throughout the summer. Pray that God would give them the wisdom and patience for their campers many questions, knowledge to answer those questions, and the love to show to these campers.
- Pray for our summer leadership team. Pray for Claire, our program director. Pray for her health and safety. Pray that she will get the rest she needs when she needs it, and that she will grow in her faith this summer.
- Pray for our campers. Pray that there would be no accidents, or sickness happen. Pray that they would come to know their Savior here at Stoney.
- Pray for Jay & Jen as they lead the team this summer.
- Pray for Tracy & Paddy Reed, as this is their first summer with us at Stoney. Tracy is our Facility Manager and Paddy is the Kitchen Coordinator.
- Pray for Jesse Alsbach as our Associate Director, Millie Hart as our LIT Director, and Jason & Pam Kellington as our Senior Staff Supervisors.
- Pray for continued financial and prayer support for the camp. Praise God for the many people who do support Stoney in this way.
