Prayer Update – July 8, 2016

Well, the first week of camp is almost over!  It has been a busy, rainy, but great week.  God was working and 4 campers have accepted the Lord, 4 others recommitted their lives to the Lord and many more were taken deeper in their knowledge of the Lord!  Marty Johnson, our speaker, got their attention right from the beginning and spoke the plain truth to them.  It was great to see and hear how over the week, the campers got into worship.  Campers who knew next to nothing about Jesus have had their eyes opened and are asking questions.  Those that were hard towards their cabin leaders and God at the beginning of the week have softened and began opening up by the end.  Please pray for these young junior highers (ages 12-14) as many of them are going home to crazy home lives or simply need prayer to stand strong in their faith as they go back to their friend groups.  Pray that God would protect them and keep them in His care.

As I mentioned in the last prayer update, it was also our Leaders in Training (LITs) training week.  It was a bit chaotic with the dual schedule but by about Tuesday, the LITs began to lose their “deer in the headlights” look!  Needless to say, they were a bit overwhelmed being thrown into the camp setting right away.  But they pulled through and connected really well as a group, with the staff and with the campers especially. It was great watching them walk down the paths talking with campers, throwing them off the pushing dock(!) and leading them in skills.  Michaelya did a great job leading and teaching them this week.  Continue to pray for them as they are still young and many are still growing in their faith.  Pray that they will stand firm in their faith after camp is done and they go back to school.

JUNIOR ONE

We have 128 campers ages 8-11 registered for this next week starting Sunday July 10!  It’s going to be a full and crazy week.  Please pray for energy and endurance for the staff to keep up with all the campers!  This week, Paige Johnson, one of our cabin leaders, is unable to be here.  Please pray for Deana Syrenne who will be stepping into the cabin for the week.

Our support staff for the week are:

Leaders in Training (LITs): Jordan Seipp, Jesse Johner, Shane Foster, Landon Seipp, Destinee Mills, Millie Hart, Rachel Linnell, Caitlyn Waterhouse, Maggie Wilson

Cooks: Val Weber, Jodie Graham, Jill Gendall, Shannon Young, Lindsay Zacharias

Cleaning Ladies: Shawna Reid, Bonnie Gantefoer

Nurse: Rae-Lynn Snyder

Maintenance Help: Jeff Gendall

Grandparents:  Loy & Carla Dalschow

Our speaker this week is Jaime Schreiner.  This is Jaime’s second time speaking at Stoney although she has spoken at other events and camps and has gone to camp herself growing up.  She, her husband Brad and daughters, Hannah and Grace, are from Tisdale.  Pray for Jaime that she would connect well with the campers and that they would respond to the Gospel.

PRAYER REQUESTS

This coming week is going to be a busy one and the campers have that much more energy than the staff so please pray for energy, strength, health and much patience for the cabin leaders.

Please pray for the cabin leaders’ ability to speak to the campers at their level.  Its a bit of an age jump from last week to this coming week and it may take some of the cabin leaders a bit to figure out the difference in teaching and learning styles for this younger age group.

Continue to pray that God would soften the hearts of the campers and that they would respond to the Holy Spirit’s work in their lives.

Thank you so much for your prayer support.  We could not do it without your prayer.
